06.X.1D

Massey Ferguson 06.X.1D – TRANS1: Issue With Voltage To 1000 PTO Speed Solenoid Dyna VT (TRANS1)

Issue description

Indicates an electrical fault—specifically a voltage irregularity (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power)—in the circuit that controls the solenoid responsible for engaging the 1000 RPM PTO speed on Dyna-VT transmissions.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness connector at the PTO speed solenoid for corroded wiring or moisture ingress.

  2. Check the wiring harness between the TRANS1 controller and the solenoid for continuity, shorts to ground, or broken wires.

  3. Test the solenoid coil with a multimeter to check for internal shorts or burnout.

  4. Check hydraulic fluid and filters for contamination, which can cause internal valve components to stick and overwork the solenoid.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize

Ensure the tractor is off and relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

  3. Locate and Disconnect

Locate the 1000 PTO speed solenoid on the transmission/PTO housing. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  4. Remove the Valve

Unbolt/unscrew the faulty solenoid valve from its mounting point.

  5. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the mounting surface. Ensure no dirt, grease, or debris falls into the open hydraulic port.

  6. Install the New Valve

Fit the replacement solenoid valve into the original mounting points.

  7. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector back in (cleaning any residual corrosion from the plug first) and reconnect the battery.

  8. Test

Start the tractor and test the PTO engagement and speed selection via the cab switches to ensure the TRANS1 module registers the voltage correctly.

  9. Filter Maintenance

It is highly recommended to change your hydraulic filter after this repair to prevent future valve sticking.
