Issue description
This code indicates a fault, mismatch, or detection failure regarding the 1000 RPM Power Take-Off (PTO) stub shaft. The tractor's system monitors the installed stub shaft and the selected PTO speed; this code triggers when the system detects an anomaly with the 1000 RPM shaft (e.g., the sensor cannot read it, it is improperly seated, or there is a plausibility error between the selected speed and the shaft detected).

Check the cause
Safety First: Always disengage the PTO, stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving parts to stop before inspecting the PTO shaft.
Verify the Installed Shaft: Ensure the correct 1000 RPM (typically 21-spline) stub shaft is physically installed if 1000 RPM is selected in the cab. A mismatch between the physical shaft and the selected speed will trigger a plausibility error.
Inspect the Stub Shaft Seating: Check if the stub shaft is fully seated. If the retaining circlip (snap ring) or mounting bolts are loose, the shaft may pull out slightly, causing the sensor to lose its reading.
Test the PTO Speed Sensor: The PTO speed sensor (located on the rear housing) monitors the shaft's rotation. Inspect the sensor wiring harness for damage. If the PTO operates normally but the code persists, the sensor itself may be faulty.
Check for Mechanical Drag: If the PTO shaft continues to spin when disengaged, check for a worn PTO brake, light internal drag, or hydraulic pressure issues, which can sometimes trigger speed plausibility faults.
Repair steps
Park the tractor
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and remove the key.
Locate the retaining mechanism
Locate the retaining mechanism for the PTO stub shaft at the rear differential housing. Depending on the exact model, this will either be a heavy-duty circlip (snap ring) or a set of retaining bolts (e.g., four bolts).
Remove the retaining mechanism
Remove the circlip or unscrew the retaining bolts.
Remove the stub shaft
Pull the 1000 RPM stub shaft straight out. Note: The shaft is fitted inside a tube, so oil loss should be negligible during this process.
Clean components
Clean the screw-on face, the internal splines, and the new PTO shaft stub thoroughly.
Insert the new stub shaft
Insert the new or cleaned 1000 RPM stub shaft, ensuring the internal splines align correctly to engage the speed gear.
Reinstall the retaining mechanism
Reinstall the circlip securely, or if using bolts, tighten them evenly (OEM spec for some M12 retaining bolts is 110 Nm).
Locate the PTO speed sensor
To replace the PTO Speed Sensor (if the shaft is mechanically sound): Locate the PTO speed sensor on the rear housing.
Disconnect the electrical connector
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Unscrew the sensor
Unscrew the sensor from the housing (typically a 32mm thread length).
Install the new sensor
Install the new sensor, reconnect the harness, and clear the fault codes using a diagnostic tool.
