Check the cause

  1. Inspect the PTO 1000 ECO button on the side console/fender for physical damage, sticking, or heavy dirt ingress.

  2. Access the rear of the switch and check the electrical connector for backed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture inside the plug.

  3. Check the wiring harness leading from the switch to the TRANS1 module for chafing or pinch points. Test the CAN High and CAN Low lines for proper resistance (typically 60 ohms across the network) and continuity.

  4. Use a multimeter to verify if the switch is mechanically closing/opening the circuit when pressed to rule out internal arcing or contact failure.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the tractor and disconnect the main battery master switch

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the main battery master switch (electronic or manual) to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Pry or unscrew the trim panel

Carefully pry or unscrew the trim panel on the right-hand operator console where the PTO speed selection buttons are housed.

  3. Disconnect the plug

Locate the back of the PTO 1000 ECO switch and depress the locking tab on the wiring harness to disconnect the plug.

  4. Remove the faulty switch

Squeeze the retaining tabs on the sides of the faulty switch and push it upward/outward through the top of the console panel.

  5. Install the new switch

Take the new OEM replacement switch and snap it firmly down into the panel until the tabs lock into place.

  6. Reconnect the wiring harness

Reconnect the wiring harness to the new switch, ensuring it clicks securely.

  7. Reinstall the console trim panel

    Reinstall the console trim panel.

  8. Test the PTO 1000 ECO engagement

Reconnect the battery master switch, start the tractor, and test the PTO 1000 ECO engagement to verify the 06.X.B9 code has cleared.
