08.0.12

Massey Ferguson 08.0.12 – HITCH: Rear Linkage Lower Solenoid High Voltage

Issue description

The system has detected a high voltage condition on the circuit responsible for the rear linkage lower solenoid. This typically indicates a short to power in the wiring harness, a failed solenoid coil, or a fault within the module's output circuit.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness running from the HITCH module to the rear linkage lower solenoid for rubbed-through insulation causing a short to a power source.

  2. Disconnect the lower solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or bent terminals. Do the same at the HITCH module connector.

  3. Use a multimeter to check the signal wire for a short to voltage.

  4. Measure the resistance across the pins of the lower solenoid coil. If the resistance is out of specification (e.g., internally shorted), the solenoid itself is the culprit.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

  2. Wiring Repair

If a short to power was found in the harness, repair the damaged section of wiring and seal it with heat-shrink tubing.

  3. Solenoid Replacement

If the solenoid coil failed the resistance test, remove the retaining nut/clip on the hydraulic valve block, slide off the old solenoid coil, and install the replacement.

  4. Reassembly

Reconnect the solenoid wiring harness, ensuring the connector clicks securely into place.

  5. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 08.0.12 fault code from the HITCH module.

  6. Functional Test

Start the tractor and operate the rear linkage raise/lower controls to verify smooth operation and ensure the code does not return.
