Massey Ferguson 08.0.22 – HITCH: Rear Hitch Position Sensor Signal Voltage Issue
Issue description
This code indicates that the control module is receiving an abnormal or out-of-range signal voltage from the rear hitch position sensor (also known as the linkage height sensor). This sensor is responsible for monitoring the physical height and angle of the rear 3-point hitch.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness running from the HITCH module to the rear hitch position sensor for chafing, breaks, or shorts to ground or power.
Disconnect the sensor and check the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or loose terminals.
Verify that the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage (typically 5V) and has a solid ground.
Measure the signal wire voltage back to the HITCH module while manually moving the hitch to see if the voltage scales smoothly or drops out.
Repair steps
Repair Wiring
If any wiring faults or corroded connectors are found during the diagnostic checks, repair them and clear the code.
Replace Sensor
If the wiring and reference voltage are intact but the signal voltage remains out of range or erratic, the position sensor has failed internally and must be replaced.
Adjust Sensor Gap/Orientation
When installing the new sensor, ensure it is oriented correctly on the hitch control shaft according to the specific model's service manual.
Hitch Calibration
After replacing the sensor, you must perform a rear linkage calibration procedure. This process defines the high and low mechanical stops for the HITCH module, measures the new sensor's signal limits, and calibrates the solenoid valve currents.
