Check the cause

  1. Verify power and ground by checking the wiring harness supplying the Rear Hitch Module for steady battery voltage and a clean, corrosion-free ground connection (low voltage can cause internal processing errors).

  2. Check for calibration loss by verifying if code 08.0.B6 is also present, which indicates the module may just need recalibration rather than replacement.

  3. Clear DTCs with a compatible diagnostic tool, cycle the tractor's key, and operate the hitch rocker switches to see if the 08.0.A1 code returns as a hard fault.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Locate the Module

Access the Rear Hitch Module (location varies by cab configuration, typically found under the right-hand console or behind the rear cab trim panel near the hitch valve wiring).

  3. Remove the Module

Disconnect the multi-pin harness connectors from the module and unbolt it from its mounting bracket.

  4. Install the New Module

Secure the replacement Hitch Controller and reconnect the wiring harnesses.

  5. Reprogram and Calibrate

Reconnect the battery. A dealer diagnostic tool (such as the AGCO EDT) must be connected to flash the correct software to the new module and perform a rear hitch calibration (calibrating the draft pins, position sensors, and raise/lower limits).

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Rear Hitch Module / Hitch Controller (Electronic Control Unit)

Exact OEM part number is highly specific to the tractor's serial number and cab configuration. Look up in the AGCO parts catalog using the machine's VIN/Serial. Modules are generally shipped blank or with base software and must be programmed by an authorized dealer.
