Massey Ferguson 08.00.11 – HITCH: Rear Linkage Lower Solenoid High Voltage (HITCH)
Issue description
This code triggers when the controller detects an abnormally high voltage on the circuit for the rear linkage lowering solenoid (X28). This condition is usually caused by a short circuit to a power source (such as a short to +12V) in the wiring harness, an internal short within the solenoid coil itself, or a failure within the controller.

Check the cause
Trace the wiring harness from the HITCH controller to the X28 rear linkage lowering solenoid. Look for chafed insulation, melted wires, or pinch points that could cause the signal wire to short against a +12V power source.
Disconnect the plug at the lowering solenoid. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or damage, which can bridge connections and cause voltage irregularities.
Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the solenoid coil pins. If the resistance is out of specification (reading near zero ohms), the coil is internally shorted and must be replaced.
Verify the tractor's overall battery and alternator voltage. System-wide voltage spikes can sometimes trigger localized high-voltage codes.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Lower the rear linkage completely to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure in the lift cylinders. Turn off the engine and disconnect the battery.
Locate the Valve
Locate the rear linkage control valve block (typically mounted at the rear of the tractor near the lift cover). Identify the specific lowering solenoid (X28).
Disconnect Electricals
Unplug the wiring harness connector from the solenoid.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the area around the valve block to prevent dirt or debris from entering the hydraulic system during removal.
Remove the Solenoid
Depending on the valve design, either remove the retaining nut at the end of the stem to slide the electromagnetic coil off, or use a wrench to unscrew the entire cartridge valve assembly from the block.
Install the New Part
If installing a full cartridge, lubricate the new O-rings with clean hydraulic fluid. Thread the new valve into the block and tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque. If only replacing the coil, slide it over the stem and secure the retaining nut.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical harness. Reconnect the battery.
Testing
Start the tractor, clear the 08.00.11 fault code using a compatible diagnostic tool, and cycle the rear hitch up and down to verify proper operation and check for leaks.
