Massey Ferguson 08.00.1B – HITCH: Mud Guard Rear Hitch Buttons Signal Voltage Issue

   Inspect the external rear hitch buttons on the mudguard for physical damage, cracked rubber seals, or sticking buttons (water and dirt ingress is the most common cause of failure).

   Trace the wiring loom from the back of the mudguard switch to the Rear Hitch Module. Look for chafed wires, broken connections, or corrosion at the plug terminals.

   Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test the voltage supply at the connector.

   Test the switch itself for continuity when pressed to determine if the internal contacts have failed.

   Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic interface to verify if the code is currently active or stored.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits during repair.

   Access the Switch

   Locate the faulty up/down hitch switch on the rear mudguard (fender).

   Disconnect Wiring

   Reach behind the mudguard panel and carefully unplug the wiring harness connector from the switch.

   Remove the Switch

   Depending on the model, the switch will either unthread from a mounting bracket or pop out via retaining clips. Remove the old switch and its sealing rubber.

   Install the New Part

   Insert the replacement switch into the mudguard housing. Ensure the rubber dust/moisture seal is seated correctly to prevent future water ingress.

   Reconnect and Test

   Plug the wiring harness back into the switch. Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and test the external hitch raise and lower functions.

   Clear Codes

   Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 08.00.1B fault code from the HITCH module memory.
