Issue description

The control module has detected an erratic, missing, or out-of-range signal voltage from the right-side draft pin sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the right draft pin for moisture intrusion, corrosion, chafing, breaks, or loose connections.

  2. Verify pin voltages at the harness connector (Pin C: Power supply, Pin B: Signal input, Pin A: Ground).

  3. Perform a swap test by temporarily swapping the left and right draft pin sensor connectors. If the fault code changes to 08.00.51, the sensor has failed internally. If it remains 08.00.50, the issue is in the wiring harness or HITCH module.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

    Lower the rear 3-point hitch completely to the ground to remove all mechanical load and pressure from the lower link draft pins. Turn off the tractor and apply the parking brake.

  2. Disconnect Electronics

    Unplug the electrical connector from the right draft pin sensor. Ensure the harness side is clean and dry.

  3. Remove the Pin

    Remove the retaining hardware (usually a locking bolt or retaining pin) that secures the draft pin to the lower link bracket.

  4. Extract the Sensor

    Slide the old draft pin sensor out of the housing. You may need to gently tap it out if it is seized with dirt or rust.

  5. Clean the Bore

    Thoroughly clean the mounting bore and linkage eye to ensure the new pin slides in smoothly and seats correctly.

  6. Install the New Sensor

    Insert the new draft pin sensor, aligning the retaining hole. Secure it with the retaining hardware.

  7. Reconnect and Seal

    Reconnect the electrical harness. Apply dielectric grease if recommended by the service manual to prevent future moisture intrusion.

  8. Calibration

    After replacing a draft pin sensor, the electronic draft control system typically requires a recalibration via the tractor's diagnostic interface or in-cab terminal to learn the new sensor's zero-load baseline.
