Issue description

The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected that the electrical current (amperage) flowing through the circuit for the rear hitch's 'raise' solenoid is exceeding the maximum expected threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short circuit to ground in the wiring harness, an internal short within the solenoid coil itself, or a failing solenoid drawing excessive power.

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the rear linkage raise solenoid for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation that could be shorting to the tractor frame.

  2. Disconnect the solenoid connector and check for dust, moisture, or corrosion inside the pins, which can bridge connections and cause high amp draw.

  3. Using a digital multimeter, measure the resistance across the pins of the raise solenoid coil. If the resistance is near zero, the coil is internally shorted and must be replaced.

  4. With the solenoid and the HITCH module disconnected, test the raise solenoid signal wire for continuity to ground to check for a shorted harness.

  5. Ensure the tractor's battery and charging system are stable, as severe voltage drops can sometimes cause erratic amperage spikes in solenoids.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

    Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent accidental shorts during repair.

  2. Relieve Pressure

    Ensure the rear linkage is fully lowered to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure in the hitch circuit.

  3. Access the Valve Block

    Locate the rear hitch hydraulic control valve block (usually located at the rear of the tractor near the lift arms). Identify the specific 'Raise' solenoid (refer to your specific model's hydraulic schematic if necessary).

  4. Remove the Solenoid

    Unplug the electrical connector from the solenoid. Remove the retaining nut or bolt at the end of the solenoid stem. Slide the electromagnetic coil off the valve cartridge. (If the cartridge itself is leaking or sticking, you may need to unthread the entire electrovalve assembly from the block).

  5. Install the New Part

    Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut (do not overtighten, as this can distort the coil).

  6. Reconnect

    Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring the weather seal is intact. Reconnect the battery.

  7. Calibrate and Test

    Turn the key on, clear the 08.00.62 fault code using a diagnostic tool or the tractor's onboard dash interface. Start the tractor and test the rear hitch raise/lower functions to confirm the repair.
