Massey Ferguson 08.00.A0 – Rear Hitch Module (HITCH): Rear Hitch Module Internal Issue (HITCH)

Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Scan for related codes using a compatible diagnostic tool, such as 08.00.B4 (Rear Hitch Module Calibration Issue) or voltage-related codes (08.01.16).

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and the 55-way connector on the Bosch EHR unit to ensure the module is receiving proper voltage and ground. A voltage drop can sometimes trigger false internal fault codes.

  3. Attempt to clear the code and perform a full rear hitch calibration procedure using the tractor's diagnostic interface, as the code often points to a lost calibration.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Power down the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Locate hitch module

Locate the Rear Hitch Module (EHR Control Unit). Location varies by cab configuration but is typically found behind the right-hand console or under the cab floor near the rear linkage valves.

  3. Disconnect wiring

Carefully disconnect the main wiring harness connector(s) from the module.

  4. Remove faulty module

Unbolt the faulty module from its mounting bracket.

  5. Install replacement module

Install the replacement module and secure the mounting hardware.

  6. Reconnect wiring

Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the locking mechanism on the connector is fully seated.

  7. Reconnect battery

    Reconnect the battery.

  8. Calibrate hitch module

A newly installed hitch module will be blank or uncalibrated. You must perform the OEM rear hitch calibration procedure using a dealer diagnostic tool so the module can learn the upper and lower limits of the linkage position sensors.
