Check the cause
Attempt Recalibration: Connect a compatible diagnostic tool (or use the tractor's onboard dash diagnostic interface) and attempt to run the rear hitch calibration procedure. If it accepts and holds the calibration, the module may be fine.
Check Power and Ground: Verify that the EHR module is receiving stable 12V ignition power, a clean ground, and the alternator/engine-running signal. Voltage drops can cause the module's internal logic to fail or lose memory.
Inspect Harness Connectors: Disconnect the module and check the multi-pin connectors. Verify that all terminals are securely locked in their respective slots and that there is no corrosion or moisture ingress.
Repair steps
Disconnect battery
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate module
Locate the Rear Hitch Module (EHR unit). Location varies by cab design but is typically found under the right-hand console or behind the rear cab trim panel.
Unplug module
Carefully release the locking tabs on the wiring harness connectors and unplug the module.
Unbolt module
Unbolt the module from its mounting bracket.
Install replacement
Install the replacement (or repaired) module and secure the mounting hardware.
Reconnect harnesses
Reconnect the wiring harnesses, ensuring the locking mechanisms click into place.
Reconnect battery
Reconnect the battery.
Perform calibration
Crucial Step: A new or refurbished module will not operate the hitch out of the box. You must perform a full hitch calibration (setting the upper/lower limits and draft sensor baselines) using the dealer diagnostic tool.
