Check the cause

  1. Check the wiring harness and connector at the back of the hitch rocker switch for loose pins, corrosion, or moisture ingress

  2. Inspect the wiring running from the armrest/console to the HITCH module for signs of fraying or rodent damage

  3. Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test for continuity across the switch's contacts. The switch should show clear open/closed states when toggled to the 'Up' and 'Down' positions. If the resistance is erratic or infinite when closed, the switch's internal contacts have failed

  4. Turn the ignition off and back on to see if the code is an active hard fault or an intermittent stored code

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Ensure the tractor is parked on level ground, the engine is turned off, the key is removed, and the rear hitch is fully lowered to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure.

  2. Access the Switch

Locate the 3-point hitch up/down rocker switch on the cab console/armrest. Carefully pry the switch bezel or the console trim panel up using a plastic trim tool to avoid scratching the plastics.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the switch.

  4. Remove

Squeeze the retaining tabs on the sides of the faulty rocker switch and push it up and out of the mounting panel.

  5. Install

Snap the new OEM or aftermarket replacement switch into the panel.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the wiring harness back into the switch. It is a direct plug-and-play replacement.

  7. Test

Turn the tractor's ignition on. Verify that the 08.01.18 fault code has cleared from the diagnostic display. Start the engine and test the hitch's up and down functions to ensure proper operation.
