Massey Ferguson 08.01.2B – Rear Hitch Module (HITCH): Issue With Signal From Hitch Transport Dampening Button (HITCH)
Issue description
The system is detecting an invalid, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the button responsible for activating the hitch transport dampening (ride control) feature. This usually points to a faulty switch, a wiring harness issue (open or short circuit), or a poor connection.

Check the cause
Inspect the Hitch Transport Dampening Button for physical damage, sticking, or liquid intrusion.
Access the back of the switch and disconnect the wiring harness to inspect the pins for corrosion, pushed-out terminals, or moisture.
Using a digital multimeter, test the switch for proper continuity (should show closed circuit when pressed/engaged and open when released, or vice versa).
Check the wiring harness between the switch connector and the Rear Hitch Module for continuity, shorts to ground, or shorts to power.
Connect a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to monitor the live data stream for the Rear Hitch Module and toggle the button to see if the module registers the state change.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Switch
Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim panel on the armrest or side console where the hitch controls are located.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the Hitch Transport Dampening Button.
Remove the Switch
Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it upward/outward through the top of the console panel.
Install the New Part
Snap the new switch into the console panel until the retaining clips lock into place.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical connector back into the switch, ensuring it clicks securely.
Reassemble
Reinstall the console trim panel.
Test
Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 08.01.2B fault code. Test the hitch transport dampening function to ensure the code does not return.
