08.01.32

Massey Ferguson 08.01.32 – HITCH: Issue With Signal From Rear Hitch Left Draft Pin (HITCH)

Issue description

The onboard diagnostic system logs this code when it detects an irregular signal voltage, resistance, or a complete loss of signal from the left-side draft pin, which measures the draft force (load/pulling resistance) of the implement.

Check the cause

  1. Check the left draft pin for heavy mud, dirt accumulation, or moisture contamination that could prevent component movement.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and sealed connector leading to the left draft pin for external wire chafing or damage causing a voltage drop.

  3. Perform a bypass test by unplugging the wiring to the left draft pin to see if standard position control mode is restored.

  4. Use a multimeter to check the resistance across the sensor pins for a massive drop compared to factory specifications.

Repair steps

  1. Clean and Lubricate

If the sensor is physically restricted, thoroughly clean the mud and debris from the draft sensor plunger and lubricate it to ensure free movement. Clear the code and test the hitch.

  2. Remove the Faulty Pin

If the sensor has failed electronically, it must be removed. Remove the heavy outside retaining plate.

  3. Extracting a Stuck Pin

You may need to use a pry bar or drive a wedge between the sensor and the frame to force it out. In severe cases, penetrating oil and a puller tool are required.

  4. Install the Replacement

Insert the new draft pin, reinstall the heavy outside plate, and reconnect the sealed wiring harness.

  5. Alternative Workaround (Draft Pin Eliminator)

If you only use the tractor for tasks that do not require automatic draft control, you can install a Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit. These modules plug directly into the factory harness in place of the pins, fooling the HITCH controller into thinking the pins are present and functioning.
