Massey Ferguson 08.02.1C – HITCH: Rear Hitch Raise/Lower Rocker Switch Signal Issue (HITCH)
Issue description

Check the cause
Ensure the tractor is turned off, the hydraulic system is depressurized, and the rear hitch is fully lowered to the ground or mechanically supported
Inspect the cab console rocker switch for physical damage, sticking, or heavy accumulation of dust/moisture
Remove the switch from the console and inspect the wiring harness connector for loose pins, frayed wires, or corrosion
Use a multimeter to test the switch's electrical contacts (3-position On/Off/On) to verify it sends correct voltage signals when toggled and returns to an open/neutral state when released. If the switch tests fine, the issue may be a break in the wiring harness between the switch and the HITCH module.
Repair steps
Shut down the tractor, lower the rear hitch, and disconnect the battery
This prevents electrical shorts.
Locate the rear hitch raise/lower rocker switch
It is located on the right-hand cab console panel.
Carefully pry the switch or the surrounding bezel out of the console panel
Most OEM switches are direct drop-in designs held in by plastic retention clips.
Disconnect the wiring harness plug
Remove it from the back of the faulty switch.
Plug the tractor's wiring harness directly into the new replacement switch
No modifications should be necessary for OEM replacements.
Snap the new switch firmly back into the console panel
Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and test the up/down function of the three-point hitch
Ensure the fault code clears and the linkage responds smoothly.
