08.02.2B

Massey Ferguson 08.02.2B – HITCH: Issue With Signal From Hitch Transport Dampening Button (HITCH)

Issue description

The control module is receiving an irregular, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the button responsible for activating the Transport Active Damping system. This system is used to reduce bouncing and stabilize the tractor when transporting heavy implements on the rear linkage.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the Transport Active Damping button on the side console or armrest for physical damage, sticking, or liquid intrusion.

  2. Access the back of the switch and inspect the wiring harness connector for loose pins, corrosion, or chafed wires leading back to the HITCH module.

  3. Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test it for continuity, verifying that the switch opens and closes the circuit properly when pressed.

  4. Ensure the fault isn't being triggered by a conflicting signal from the main lift/lower switch, as the transport damping system automatically disengages in the 'LOWER' position.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Access the Switch

Carefully pry up the trim panel on the right-hand armrest or side console where the Transport Dampening button is mounted. Use a plastic trim tool to avoid damaging the cab plastics.

  3. Remove the Switch

Disconnect the electrical pigtail from the back of the switch. Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it up through the console panel.

  4. Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken or shorted wire, splice and heat-shrink the damaged section of the harness.

  5. Install New Part

Snap the new Transport Dampening button into the console panel and reconnect the electrical harness. Ensure the connector clicks securely into place.

  6. Reassembly & Testing

Reinstall the console trim panel. Reconnect the battery.

  7. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 08.02.2B fault code from the HITCH module. Start the tractor, raise the rear linkage, and press the button to verify the active damping system engages without throwing a new code.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Hitch Transport Dampening Button / Transport Active Damping Switch

Specific OEM part numbers vary heavily depending on the cab configuration (Essential vs. Efficient/Exclusive armrests). Order the generic AGCO Rocker/Push Switch specific to your tractor's VIN/serial number via an authorized Massey Ferguson dealer.
