Massey Ferguson 08.02.31 – HITCH: Issue With Signal From Rear Hitch Right Draft Pin (HITCH)
Issue description
The voltage signal coming from the right draft pin sensor (which measures the draft force/load on the rear linkage) is outside of its normal operating range, or the circuit has failed high/shorted. When this occurs, the system may default to using the left draft pin to operate in draft mode, or it may disable certain electronic draft control (EDC) functions.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the right rear draft pin for pinched wires, chafing, or damaged insulation.
Disconnect the right draft pin sensor and check the pins for corrosion, moisture, or poor terminal tension.
Test the sensor's output voltage with a multimeter. The voltage must be within the manufacturer's specified range for a 'no load' condition. A constant 0V or 12V/14V indicates a short or open circuit.
Test the wiring harness between the draft pin sensor connector and the HITCH controller for continuity and shorts to ground.
Repair steps
Secure the Tractor
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower any attached implements to the ground to remove load from the draft pins, and turn off the ignition.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic checks revealed broken wires or corroded connectors, repair the harness or replace the connector pigtail. Clear the code and retest.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring is intact but the sensor failed the voltage test, remove the retaining hardware holding the right draft pin in the lower linkage arm.
Install New Pin
Slide the faulty draft pin out and install the new draft pin sensor. Secure it with the retaining hardware and plug in the electrical connector.
Calibrate the Hitch
After replacing a draft pin sensor, you must perform the Hitch Controller Calibration procedure using the tractor's armrest console or a compatible diagnostic tool so the module can learn the new sensor's 'no load' baseline voltage.
