Issue description

The tractor's Electronic Draft Control (EDC) system uses load sensing pins (draft pins) located at the lower links of the rear three-point hitch to measure the draft (pulling) force of an implement. This code indicates that the controller is receiving an erratic, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the left-side draft pin sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and the triangular electrical connector leading to the left lower link draft pin for pinched wires, packed dirt, or corrosion.

  2. Using a multimeter, verify that the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage (typically around 8.5V) and has a solid ground.

  3. Test the signal wire for continuity between the sensor connector and the HITCH controller to ensure there is no open circuit or short-to-ground.

  4. Temporarily swap the left and right draft pin sensors. If the fault code changes to the right-side equivalent, the sensor itself has failed internally.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

    Lower the rear three-point hitch completely to remove all physical load and hydraulic pressure from the lower link arms. Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery.

  2. Removal

    Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty left draft pin sensor. Remove the retaining hardware (usually a locking pin, snap ring, or retaining bolt) that secures the draft pin to the tractor chassis/lower link bracket.

  3. Extraction

    Slide the faulty load sensing pin out of the bore. You may need to support the lower link arm to relieve binding pressure.

  4. Installation

    Clean the mounting bore thoroughly to remove dirt and rust. Insert the new draft pin sensor, ensuring it is oriented correctly (the sensor must be aligned properly to measure shear force accurately).

  5. Reassembly

    Reinstall the retaining hardware and plug in the electrical connector.

  6. Calibration

    After replacing a draft pin sensor, you must perform a rear hitch calibration procedure using the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu or a dealer service tool. This teaches the HITCH controller the new sensor's zero-load baseline voltage.
