Check the cause

  1. Check Battery and Supply Voltage: Verify the tractor's battery is fully charged (approx. 12.6V).

  2. Inspect Wiring and Connectors: Check the wiring harness plugging into the EHR module for corroded pins, moisture ingress, or loose connections.

  3. Verify Alternator/Ignition Signals: Verify a stable 12V ignition supply and a clean alternator (engine-running) signal are present at the module connector.

  4. Check Sensor Continuity: Ensure the lift position sensors and draft pins are securely connected.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical arcing.

  2. Locate the Module

Access the Rear Hitch (EHR) Module, which is typically located inside the cab console (often behind the right-hand control panel or under the side trim, depending on the specific series).

  3. Remove the Faulty Module

Carefully unplug the multi-pin wiring harness connectors from the module. Unbolt the retaining screws/brackets and remove the unit.

  4. Install the Replacement

Mount the new or repaired EHR module and secure it with the original hardware. Reconnect the wiring harness securely.

  5. Restore Power

    Reconnect the tractor's battery.

  6. Calibration

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to perform the rear hitch calibration procedure to the tractor's specific lift cylinders, position sensors, and draft pins.

  7. Clear Codes

Clear the 08.02.A1 fault code from the system and test the raise/lower functions of the rear linkage.
