08.03.51

Massey Ferguson 08.03.51 – HITCH: Issue With Signal From Rear Hitch Left Draft Pin (HITCH)

Issue description

The left draft pin voltage is outside the normal operating range. This typically indicates that the left draft pin circuit has a higher-than-normal signal voltage, is shorted to a positive voltage source, or has an open signal ground.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the rear main harness, the left draft pin sensor, and the main connectors (such as C155 and C002) for physical damage, corrosion, or debris.

  2. Test the sensor connector pins using a multimeter to verify Pin A is Ground, Pin B is Signal input, and Pin C is Power supply.

  3. Verify that the signal wire (Pin B) is not shorted to a positive voltage source.

  4. Verify that the ground wire (Pin A) is not open and check the continuity of the electrical supply and signal harness back to the HITCH controller.

Repair steps

  1. Turn the tractor's keyswitch to the 'OFF' position.

  2. If the diagnostic checks reveal a damaged harness or corroded connector, repair or replace the affected wiring section.

  3. If the wiring and voltages are correct but the sensor signal remains out of range, the left draft pin sensor has failed internally and must be replaced.

  4. Disconnect the sealed electrical connector from the left draft pin.

  5. Mechanically unpin and remove the faulty draft pin from the lower left linkage of the rear hitch.

  6. Install the new draft pin sensor and secure it mechanically.

  7. Reconnect the electrical harness.

  8. Turn the keyswitch 'ON' and use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the fault codes and recheck to ensure code 08.03.51 does not return.

Note: A hydraulic lift autocalibration may be required after replacing draft sensors depending on the exact model.
