08.03.B4

Massey Ferguson 08.03.B4 – HITCH: Rear Hitch Module Calibration Issue (HITCH)

Issue description

The rear linkage control system has lost its calibration data, the calibration was interrupted/failed, or the rear hitch position sensor is reading outside of its expected calibrated range. As a result, the tractor cannot accurately determine the position of the rear draft arms, which may disable or limit hitch functionality.

Check the cause

  1. Ensure the rear linkage has free movement and is not mechanically binding.

  2. Check that the rear hitch position sensor is securely mounted and has not vibrated loose. Verify the position sensor gap is at the OEM specification of 20 mm (0.79 in).

  3. Inspect the position sensor wiring harness and connectors for corrosion, moisture ingress, or damaged pins that could cause voltage drops and erratic readings.

Repair steps

  1. Adjust the Position Sensor

Position the mark on the rotating shaft so it is on the same side as the connector.

  2. Secure the Sensor

Tighten the sensor so that it sits approximately in the center of its adjustment ports/slots.

  3. Run the Calibration Sequence

Calibration must be done using the Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool or via the tractor's onboard calibration sequence. The procedure involves defining the high and low physical stops of the hitch, measuring the sensor signals, and measuring the solenoid valve currents.

  4. Clear Codes

Once calibration is successful, clear the 08.03.B4 fault code and cycle the hitch through its full range of motion to verify the repair.
