08.1.B6

Massey Ferguson 08.1.B6 – Rear Hitch Module: Rear Hitch Module Internal Issue, Lost Calibration (HITCH)

Issue description

This code indicates that the electronic controller managing the rear 3-point hitch has lost its stored calibration parameters. This can happen due to a sudden voltage drop (e.g., weak battery during cranking), a disrupted draft sensor signal, or an internal memory failure within the module itself. Because the module no longer knows the physical limits of the hitch's travel, it disables the hitch to prevent mechanical damage.

Applies to these machines

  • 4707
  • 4708
  • 4709
  • 4710
  • T4 (2015-2021)

Check the cause

  1. Check battery health, alternator output, and ensure the module's ground connections are clean and tight (low voltage is a primary cause of memory loss)

  2. Check the draft pins for physical damage, and inspect the wiring harness for corrosion or breaks (a failed or out-of-range draft sensor pin will prevent calibration)

  3. Ensure the 3-point linkage has completely free movement and the mechanical drop-rate/lockout valves are not closed or seized

Repair steps

  1. Add Weight

Ensure an implement or sufficient weight is hitched to the tractor. Note: The system will block calibration access if no weight is detected on the linkage.

  2. Set RPM

Start the tractor and set the engine speed to exactly 1500 RPM (± 100 RPM).

  3. Position the Lever

Move the hitch position control lever so it rests between position 4 and position 6.

  4. Initiate Calibration

Press and hold the hitch "UP" button for more than 5 seconds. The digital display screen should change to read "Cal Hitch 2".

  5. Run Calibration

Press and hold the "UP" button again for more than 5 seconds to begin the sequence. The screen will display "Hi2 run".

  6. Wait

A progress bar will indicate the calibration status. Do not touch any linkage levers during this process. Moving a lever will abort the calibration and throw an "Error 2" code.

  7. Finish

Wait until the screen displays "Hi2 End". The calibration is now complete. Return the engine to idle speed. (Note: If the screen displays "Error 1", your starting conditions—weight, RPM, or lever position—were incorrect. Reset and try again.)

  8. Module Replacement

If the calibration procedure repeatedly fails, or if the 08.1.B6 code returns immediately after shutting the tractor off and turning it back on, the Rear Hitch Module has suffered an internal memory hardware failure. The module must be replaced and the new module calibrated using the steps above.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Rear Hitch Control Module / Comfort Module

Varies heavily by exact cab configuration (Open Station vs. Cab) and serial number break. You will need to pull the AGCO part number directly off the sticker of the failed module.

  • Draft Sensor Pin

If diagnosed as the root cause preventing calibration
