Massey Ferguson 08.2.16 – HITCH: Rear Hitch Module Voltage Issue (HITCH)

The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected an electrical voltage irregularity—such as low supply voltage, a short circuit, or an internal voltage regulation failure—powering the rear linkage/hitch control circuit.

   Check the battery voltage using a multimeter (a fully charged battery should read around 12.6V) and ensure the alternator and voltage regulator are functioning properly.

   Inspect the fuses related to the hitch module, often located in the panel below the PTO lever (access is often easier with the seat removed).

   Inspect the wiring harnesses for damage or corrosion, paying special attention to the external multi-pin plug that routes through the cab floor behind the gear shift.

   Test for voltage at the raise/lower solenoids located on top of the rock shaft to see if power is making it past the module.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery before performing any electrical repairs.

   Clean Connections

   Unscrew the collar on the cab-floor multi-pin connector. Clean all pins thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner, ensure they are seating well, and reconnect tightly.

   Repair Harness/Fuses

   Replace any blown fuses. If the wiring harness shows chafing or corrosion, splice and repair the affected section or replace the harness.

   Test the System

   Reconnect the battery and start the tractor. Cycle the up/down rocker switch to clear the hitch safety lockout before the hitch will operate.

   Module Replacement

   If the wiring, fuses, and supply voltage are all verified as good but the code persists and the hitch remains unresponsive, the Rear Hitch Module itself has failed internally and must be replaced.

   Calibration

   If a new hitch module is installed, you will likely need to perform a hitch calibration procedure using a compatible dealer diagnostic tool so the module can learn the draft pin and position sensor parameters.
