Massey Ferguson 08.2.A0 – Rear Hitch Module: Rear Hitch Module Internal Issue (HITCH)
Issue description
The controller responsible for the electronic rear linkage (EHR) has detected an internal hardware failure, a memory/logic error, or a severe internal voltage irregularity. It means the module itself is failing to process commands or maintain its internal system checks, which typically results in the rear hitch being disabled or locked out for safety.

Check the cause
Cycle the hitch rocker switch off and on to see if the module wakes up. If unresponsive, shut the tractor down completely via the master battery isolator switch for 30 minutes to drain residual capacitor power, and restart.
Check the battery voltage and the main ground strap. Low voltage during cranking or a weak charging system can cause the module's internal logic to crash, throwing a false internal error.
Inspect the main multi-pin connector (often a 55-way connector on Bosch EHR units) at the hitch module for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-back pins that could short the module's internal circuitry.
Verify if the module has simply lost its memory (indicated by related code 08.2.B6). A dealer may be able to re-flash or recalibrate the module using the AGCO diagnostic tool before replacing it.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery via the master isolator switch to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate the Module
Access the Rear Hitch Module. Depending on the model, this is typically located under the right-hand side cab console panel or behind the seat.
Remove the Module
Carefully release the locking tab on the main wiring harness connector and unplug it. Remove the mounting bolts securing the module to the cab frame.
Install the New Module
Mount the replacement module and securely reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the connector lock clicks into place.
Restore Power & Calibrate
Reconnect the battery. Note: A new hitch module will not work out of the box; it must be calibrated to the tractor's specific draft pins, position sensors, and valve solenoids using AGCO dealer software.
