Massey Ferguson 08.X.12 – HITCH module (Rear Hitch / Electronic Hitch Control Module): Rear Linkage Raise Solenoid High Voltage

   Perform a visual wiring inspection of the harness from the HITCH control module to the rear linkage raise solenoid on the EHR valve block, looking for rub points, pinched wires, or melted insulation.

   Disconnect the raise solenoid connector and inspect for water ingress, corrosion, or bent pins.

   With the key on, use a multimeter to check the voltage at the harness connector to verify if there is an unintended constant high voltage present on the signal wire.

   Measure the resistance (Ohms) of the raise solenoid coil and compare it to OEM specifications to check for an internal short.

   Ensure the ground circuit for the solenoid and the HITCH module is clean, tight, and free of corrosion.

   Safety First

   Park the tractor on a level surface. Fully lower the rear hitch to relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system. Turn off the engine and disconnect the battery.

   Locate the Valve Block

   Locate the rear linkage control valve block (EHR valve) at the rear of the tractor. Identify the specific solenoid responsible for the 'Raise' function.

   Wiring Repair

   If your diagnostic tests revealed a short to power in the harness, cut out the damaged section of wire, solder in a new section, and seal it with marine-grade heat-shrink tubing.

   Solenoid Replacement

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the raise solenoid. Remove the retaining nut or bolts holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem. Slide the old solenoid coil off the cartridge (or unscrew the entire cartridge valve if it is a single-piece assembly). Clean the mounting area. If replacing the cartridge, ensure the new O-rings are lubricated with clean hydraulic fluid before installation. Slide the new solenoid into place and tighten the retaining nut to the manufacturer's specified torque.

   Reassembly and Testing

   Reconnect the electrical connector and the battery. Start the tractor and use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the stored 08.X.12 fault code. Test the rear hitch raise and lower functions repeatedly to confirm the repair.
