Massey Ferguson 08.X.16 – HITCH Module: Rear Hitch Module Voltage Issue (HITCH)

The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected an irregular voltage signal (either high, low, or an internal supply error) associated with the Rear Hitch Control Module. This prevents the electronic draft control (EDC) and rear 3-point hitch from functioning correctly.

   Verify the tractor's battery voltage using a multimeter (should be ~12.6V resting, ~14V running) to rule out low system voltage triggering false codes

   Check the EDC/Hitch control fuses and the main power relays in the cab fuse panel

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Rear Hitch Module for chafed wires or pinched harnesses

   Disconnect the main harness to the Hitch Module and the rear hitch solenoids to inspect the pins for green corrosion or moisture intrusion

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent short circuits.

   Clean and Treat Connectors

   If moisture or mild corrosion is found in the module or solenoid connectors, clean the pins thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner. Apply a generous amount of dielectric grease to the connectors to seal out future moisture.

   Repair Wiring

   If the harness is chafed (commonly where it routes near the rear axle or cab mounts), splice and heat-shrink the damaged wires.

   Replace the Module (If Necessary)

   If the wiring, fuses, and system voltage are perfect but the code persists, the internal circuitry of the Rear Hitch Module has failed. Remove the mounting hardware securing the module. Install the new module and reconnect the harness.

   Calibration

   A newly installed Hitch Module will not work out of the box. You must perform the rear hitch calibration procedure using the tractor's diagnostic terminal or a dealer laptop to teach the module the upper and lower limits of the hitch travel.
