Massey Ferguson 08.X.1C – HITCH: Rear Hitch Raise/Lower Rocker Switch Signal Issue

Check the cause
Hydraulic Valve Override Test: Go to the rear of the tractor and manually push the override buttons on the hitch hydraulic valve solenoids. If the hitch moves up and down normally, the hydraulics are fine, confirming the issue is electrical (switch, wiring, or module).
Check Fuses and Power: Verify that the fuses supplying the hitch control circuit are intact and that the switch is receiving power.
Inspect the Wiring Harness: Check the wiring harness running from the side console/armrest to the main harness under the seat. Look for chafing, pinched wires, or corrosion at the connectors.
Test Switch Voltage/Continuity: Use a multimeter to check the voltage at the switch terminals. You should not see voltage on both the "raise" and "lower" signal wires simultaneously (which would indicate a short). Test the switch itself for proper continuity when toggled.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.
Access the Switch
Carefully pry up or unscrew the side console panel or armrest housing where the hitch raise/lower rocker switch is mounted.
Disconnect Wiring
Unplug the electrical connector (usually a 4-pin connector) from the back of the faulty rocker switch. Inspect the connector for melted plastic or corroded pins; clean if necessary.
Remove the Switch
Depress the plastic retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it upward/outward through the top of the console panel.
Install the New Switch
Push the new OEM rocker switch into the console cutout until the retaining tabs click securely into place.
Reconnect and Reassemble
Plug the electrical connector into the new switch, re-secure the console panel, and reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes and Test
Turn the ignition on, clear the stored 08.X.1C fault code from the diagnostic display, and test the hitch operation. (Note: Some models may require a brief hitch calibration sequence after electrical repairs).
