Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the Hitch Transport Dampening Button on the side console for physical damage or sticking.

  2. Remove the console trim to access the back of the switch and check the electrical connector for loose pins, moisture, or corrosion.

  3. Trace the wiring harness from the switch back to the HITCH module, testing for open circuits, high resistance, or a short-to-ground/short-to-power.

  4. Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the switch itself; it should show a clear open/closed state when toggled. If resistance is erratic or infinite when closed, the switch has failed internally.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Switch

Carefully pry up or unscrew the side console trim panel where the Transport Active Damping button is mounted.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the faulty switch.

  4. Remove

Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it upward out of the console bezel.

  5. Install

Snap the new Hitch Transport Dampening Button into the console bezel until it clicks securely into place.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the wiring harness connector into the new switch.

  7. Reassemble

    Reinstall the console trim panel.

  8. Clear Codes & Test

Reconnect the battery. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 08.X.2B DTC. Start the tractor, raise the linkage, and press the Transport Active Damping button to verify the system engages without throwing a code.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Hitch Transport Dampening Button / Transport Active Damping Switch

Ensure you are ordering the switch specifically designated for "Active Damping" or "Transport Damping," as it may look identical to other auxiliary hydraulic switches on the console.
