Massey Ferguson 08.X.32 – HITCH: Issue With Signal From Rear Hitch Left Draft Pin (HITCH) or Issue With Signal From Rear Hitch Top Link Draft Pin (HITCH)

Issue description

The controller is receiving an erratic, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the left-side draft pin sensor (load cell), meaning the tractor cannot accurately determine the draft load on that side.

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the left draft pin for heavy dirt or mud accumulation that could prevent component movement and cause false signals.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and rectangular 3-pin connector leading to the left draft pin for broken wires, corrosion, or loose connections.

  3. Test the sensor's electrical connections to verify it is receiving 5V reference power (Pin C) and has a good ground (Pin A).

  4. Use a diagnostic tool to view live data for the left draft pin; if the signal return (Pin B) is stuck at zero or maximum regardless of load, the sensor has failed internally.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

    Lower the rear hitch completely to remove all physical load and tension from the lower link arms. Turn off the tractor and remove the key.

  2. Disconnect

    Unplug the rectangular 3-pin electrical connector from the faulty left draft pin.

  3. Removal

    Remove the retaining hardware (usually a locking bolt or snap ring) that secures the draft pin in the lower link bracket. Slide the old draft pin out. (Note: If the pin is seized, penetrating oil and gentle tapping may be required).

  4. Cleaning

    Thoroughly clean the bore in the linkage bracket. The new pin must seat correctly without binding to provide accurate load readings.

  5. Installation

    Insert the new load-sensing draft pin and secure it with the retaining hardware.

  6. Reconnection

    Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor.

  7. Calibration

    Turn the tractor on and use a diagnostic tool to perform an EHR (Electronic Hitch Control) draft sensor calibration. This step is mandatory, as the HITCH controller must learn the 'zero-load' baseline voltage of the new sensor to function correctly.
