08.X.B6

Massey Ferguson 08.X.B6 – HITCH: Rear Hitch Module Internal Issue, Lost Calibration(HITCH)

Issue description

The controller responsible for the electronic draft control and rear linkage has lost its internal calibration parameters. When this occurs, the rear hitch will typically be disabled or operate erratically until the system is successfully recalibrated.

Applies to these machines

  • 4707
  • 4708
  • 4709
  • 4710
  • T4 (2015-2021)
  • MF 4707
  • MF 4708
  • MF 4709
  • MF 4710

Check the cause

  1. Ensure there is a heavy implement or sufficient weight attached to the rear linkage, as the system will block calibration access if insufficient weight is detected.

  2. Verify the engine can hold a steady 1500 RPM (± 100 RPM), as the calibration will not run at idle or full throttle.

  3. Scan for other active HITCH codes (e.g., solenoid open/short circuits or position sensor voltage issues) which will prevent the module from completing the calibration process.

Repair steps

  1. Attach a sufficient weight to the tractor's rear hitch.

Ensure there is a heavy implement or sufficient weight attached to the rear linkage.

  2. Ensure the draft control lever (Lever 1) is not used/moved during this process.

Do not touch the draft control lever.

  3. Set the position control lever (Lever 2) between position 4 and position 6.

Adjust the position control lever to the specified range.

  4. Start the engine and set the engine speed to exactly 1500 RPM.

The calibration will not run at idle or full throttle.

  5. Press and hold the UP button on the hitch controls for more than 5 seconds.

The dashboard screen should display "Cal Hitch 2".

  6. Press and hold the UP button again for more than 5 seconds to initiate the calibration.

The screen will change to "Hi2 run".

  7. Wait for the progress bar on the display to finish.

Note: Do not touch any linkage levers during this process, or the system will throw an "Error 2" and exit calibration mode.

  8. Verify the screen displays "Hi2 End".

This indicates the calibration is successful.

  9. Return the engine to idle speed and test the hitch operation.

Ensure the hitch operates correctly after calibration.

  10. Replace the Rear Hitch Module if calibration fails or the code returns.

If the calibration repeatedly fails (Error 1 or Error 2) despite meeting all conditions, or if the 08.X.B6 code returns immediately after a successful calibration, the Rear Hitch Module has suffered an internal hardware/memory failure and must be replaced.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Rear Hitch Module / Electronic Draft Controller

Specific part numbers vary heavily based on the exact model year, transmission, and cab/ROPS configuration. Consult the AGCO parts catalog using the tractor's specific VIN/Serial Number. Must be flashed/programmed to the tractor using the AGCO EDT software, followed by the manual linkage calibration procedure.
