Check the cause
Cycle the in-cab hitch rocker switch off and on to 'wake up' the hitch system from safe/sleep mode
Inspect the external front hitch buttons for physical damage, sticking contacts, or water/mud ingress
Inspect the wiring harness and connector from the front hitch buttons to the HITCH controller for rub points, pinched wires, or corrosion
Use a multimeter to check the switch for continuity when pressed, and test the harness for an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.
Access the Switch
Locate the external control buttons on the front hitch assembly.
Disconnect Wiring
Reach behind the mounting bracket and carefully unplug the wiring harness connector from the faulty switch. Check the harness plug for corrosion and clean with contact cleaner if necessary.
Remove the Switch
Depending on the exact switch style, depress the retaining tabs or remove the locking nut holding the switch in the bracket, and push the switch out through the front.
Install the New Part
Push the new switch into the mounting bracket until it clicks securely into place.
Reconnect
Plug the wiring harness back into the switch, ensuring the weather-tight seal is seated properly.
Test
Reconnect the battery and start the tractor. Cycle the in-cab hitch rocker switch to activate the hitch system, then test the new external buttons to confirm the front hitch raises and lowers smoothly and the 09.03.02 code is cleared.
