0A.10.23

Massey Ferguson 0A.10.23 – Mid Mount Valve Module / Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction or communication failure associated with the first external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). The underlying condition is typically related to an out-of-range spool position sensor value or a loss of communication between the valve module and the tractor's main systems.

Check the cause

  1. Retrieve Active Codes: Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to verify if 0A.10.23 is active or stored, and check for accompanying spool position sensor codes.

  2. Check Communication: Verify CAN communication between the Dash and the Mid Mount Valve Module.

  3. Inspect Sensor Values: Read the live data for the Spool Position Sensor on Valve 1 to see if the value is erratic, stuck, or out of range.

  4. Visual & Electrical Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connectors at External Hydraulic Valve 1 for corrosion, moisture ingress, or physical damage.

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and cycle the hydraulic levers/joystick to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure. Disconnect the battery.

  2. Locate the Valve

Locate the External Hydraulic Valve 1 block (this may be located at the rear remote stack or the mid-mount valve block depending on the tractor's loader/remote configuration).

  3. Harness Testing

Disconnect the electrical connector at the valve. Use a multimeter to test the wiring harness for continuity and shorts between the valve module connector and the dash/ECU.

  4. Clean and Reconnect

If the wiring is intact, thoroughly clean the connector pins with contact cleaner. Reconnect and test.

  5. Component Replacement

If the code persists and the spool position sensor value remains out of range, the sensor or the entire External Hydraulic Valve 1 solenoid/spool assembly must be replaced.

  6. Calibration & Clearing

After replacing the valve or sensor, reconnect the battery. Use the Massey Ferguson diagnostic interface to clear the DTCs and perform any required hydraulic valve calibration procedures. Test the hydraulic remote for proper operation.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • External Hydraulic Valve 1 Assembly / Spool Valve

OEM Part Number requires checking the AGCO Parts Catalog using the tractor's specific VIN/Serial Number.

  • Spool Position Sensor

Often integrated into the electric spool valve head on 7700S series; verify via AGCO parts diagram.

  • Switch Control Unit (Joystick/Valve Control)

    4377038M93

Fitment: 5700SL, 6700S, and 7700S series with electric spools
