Check the cause

  1. Inspect the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 1 for dirt, moisture, or bent pins

  2. Verify the spool position sensor value using a diagnostic tool, as sensor value issues frequently trigger valve fault codes

  3. Verify CAN communication between the tractor's dash and the mid-mount valve module

  4. Check the wiring harness between the hydraulic valve solenoid and the ECU for chafing, shorts to ground, or open circuits

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Valve

Identify External Hydraulic Valve 1 on the rear hydraulic remote valve stack or mid-mount block.

  2. Clean and Reseat Connectors

Disconnect the electrical harness from the valve's solenoid and spool position sensor. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and securely reconnect them.

  3. Test the Solenoid

Measure the resistance of the valve solenoid with a multimeter to ensure it is within OEM specifications and receiving the correct voltage (typically a 12V or frequency carrier signal).

  4. Replace Faulty Components

If the wiring is intact but the solenoid or spool position sensor fails testing, replace the solenoid/sensor. If the valve is internally seized or mechanically failing, replace the entire External Hydraulic Valve 1 assembly.

  5. Clear Codes

Use a compatible diagnostic interface (such as the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool) to clear the 0A.10.28 code from the ECU and recalibrate the new valve if required.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • External Hydraulic Valve 1 Assembly / Hydraulic Valve Solenoid

Specify whether the tractor has a closed-center load-sensing (CCLS) or open-center hydraulic system when ordering.
