0A.11.1B

Massey Ferguson 0A.11.1B – Hydraulic/Implement Control Unit or Vehicle Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue

Issue description

This code indicates a malfunction in the circuit, solenoid, or mechanical operation of the first external hydraulic remote (spool) valve. The system has detected a signal out of range, an open/short circuit, or a mechanical condition where the valve is not responding correctly to the electronic command.

Check the cause

  1. Check the solenoid connector on External Valve 1 for harness rub points, damaged wires, or corrosion that could cause an open circuit or a short to ground/power.

  2. Test the solenoid coil resistance with a multimeter and verify ground integrity.

  3. Ensure the tractor's electrical system is providing adequate voltage, as low voltage during cranking or weak charging can trigger false hydraulic valve codes.

  4. Determine if the valve is physically stuck, as a malfunctioning valve will fail to regulate fluid flow and can trigger position/range errors.

Repair steps

  1. Retrieve and Verify Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to confirm 0A.11.1B is the only active code.

  2. Inspect and Clean Connections

Disconnect the electrical harness at External Hydraulic Valve 1. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and reconnect. Clear the code and test operation.

  3. Test/Replace the Solenoid

If the wiring is intact but the code persists, remove the solenoid from Valve 1 and test it. If it fails the resistance test, replace the solenoid coil.

  4. Address Mechanical Binding

If the electrical side is functioning, the spool valve itself may be sticking due to internal wear or debris. Remove the valve assembly, inspect the spool for scoring, and clean it.

  5. Reassembly and Calibration

Reinstall the valve with new O-rings and seals. Reconnect the harness.

  6. Clear Codes

Use the diagnostic tool to clear the DTCs and cycle the hydraulic remote to ensure the code does not return.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • External Hydraulic Valve 1 Solenoid / Coil

OEM Massey Ferguson / Bosch Rexroth depending on the exact build

  • Auxiliary Spool Valve Assembly

If the mechanical valve is scored or irreparably stuck

  • Hydraulic Valve O-Ring & Seal Kit

Required when removing or rebuilding the valve to prevent internal pressure loss

  • Hydraulic Filter

Recommended to replace if debris caused the valve to stick
