Massey Ferguson 0A.12.24 – Mid Mount Valve Module or main tractor Dash/ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue

Malfunction or restriction in the external hydraulic spool valve 1, which is responsible for operating remote hydraulics such as tipping trailers, loaders, and other implements. The issue typically manifests as remote hydraulics that are slow, weak, or completely dead.

   Check for dirty or contaminated hydraulic oil. Inspect the hydraulic/transmission filter (15-micron filter) and the filter clogging indicator, as restricted oil flow is a primary cause of slow hydraulics.

   Inspect for faulty or blocked quick couplers and worn or damaged hydraulic hoses.

   Check the electrical circuits, low-pressure switch, and solenoid valves for proper voltage and continuity.

   Check for a sticky spool valve or relief valve faults. A weak hydraulic response usually points to a pressure problem where the system cannot generate enough force.

   Verify the spool position sensor values using a diagnostic tool to ensure the module is reading the valve's physical position correctly.

   Preparation

   If necessary for access, remove the right-hand side rear wheel and support the tractor safely on an axle stand.

   Disassembly

   Unscrew the retaining plug (1) on the valve block. Recover the shims (2) and take out the spring (4).

   Valve Removal

   Remove the O-ring (5), then extract the valve body (6) along with the valve (7) and the washer (8) from the cover.

   Inspection & Cleaning

   Check that the valve slides freely in the valve body. Clean the assembly thoroughly. If the valve is scored or sticking, the spool slice or repair kit must be installed.

   Reassembly

   Place the washer (8) and fit the valve body (6) with the valve (7) back into the cover. Position a new O-ring (5).

   Torque

   Fit the spring (4) and the shims (2). Tighten the plug (1) to a torque of 50 - 60 Nm.

   Filters

   Refit the strainer (tighten an additional quarter turn after it contacts the cover) and refit the 15-micron filter and its base. Reconnect the filter clogging indicator.

   Final Steps

   Top up the transmission oil level of the rear axle and check it using the gauge. Lift the tractor, refit the wheel, remove the axle stand, and tighten the wheel nuts to a torque of 400 - 450 Nm.

   Testing

   Check the operation of the electrical circuits, solenoid valves, and carry out relevant pressure tests to verify the hydraulic circuit is functioning correctly. Note: If a new electric spool slice is installed, it must be programmed to the tractor's ECU.
