Check the cause

  1. Check for a connection problem on the hydraulic valve. Inspect the wiring harness and connections between the Dash and the Mid Mount Valve Module for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins.

  2. Use a diagnostic tool to monitor the live data of the Spool Position Sensor for Valve 1. Look for erratic voltage drops or out-of-range signals when the joystick/controls are actuated.

  3. Check the electro-valve solenoid for an open circuit, low amp draw, or high amp draw.

  4. Verify if the valves have lost their calibration parameters, which can trigger spool position errors.

Repair steps

  1. Retrieve and Verify

Connect a compatible diagnostic interface to the tractor to confirm code 0A.12.27 is active.

  2. Inspect the Harness

Disconnect the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 1. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and check for continuity back to the Mid Mount Valve Module.

  3. Test the Sensor/Coil

Test the resistance of the solenoid coil and the spool position sensor. If the sensor returns a dead or out-of-spec voltage (standard supply is usually 5V ± 2%), it must be replaced.

  4. Replace Faulty Component

If the electrical tests fail at the component level, replace the Spool Position Sensor or the Solenoid Coil. If the spool itself is mechanically binding inside the valve block, the spool valve assembly or repair kit will need to be installed.

  5. Recalibrate

After replacing the sensor, coil, or valve, you must perform a "Calibration of Valves" procedure using the dealer diagnostic tool so the Mid Mount Valve Module can learn the new spool travel limits.

  6. Clear Codes

Clear the DTCs from the system and cycle the hydraulics to ensure the code does not return.

Parts you might need

(6)
  • Spool Position Sensor

    84386295

Generic OEM replacement (CNH part frequently cross-referenced, verify exact MF part for specific Tier 4 model)

  • Solenoid Coil

    3904737M1

Example fitment for MF spool valves

  • Hydraulic Spool Valve Assembly (External Valve 1)

    3795751M3

Fitment depends on exact model and hydraulic block configuration

  • Hydraulic Spool Valve Assembly (External Valve 1)

    1696239M93

Fitment depends on exact model and hydraulic block configuration

  • Spool Valve Repair Kit

    3176423M91

Used for restoring hydraulic spool valve performance if the valve is leaking or mechanically binding

  • Mid Mount Valve Module

Generic part name; requires serial number for exact module replacement
