Massey Ferguson 0A.13.22 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic) controller or Mid Mount Valve Module / Control Unit Dashboard: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue
Issue description
Malfunction in the circuit or mechanical operation of the first external hydraulic remote/spool valve. Typically caused by an electrical fault (open circuit, short to ground/power), a sensor value out of range (spool position sensor), or a mechanical issue like a sticking/jammed valve due to debris or internal wear.

Check the cause
Check the hydraulic fluid level and inspect for contamination, which can cause valves to stick.
Look for visible hydraulic fluid leaks around External Valve 1.
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the External Hydraulic Valve 1 solenoid for rub points, corrosion, or disconnected pins. Test the solenoid coil resistance and verify ground integrity.
Check if the valve is mechanically sticking or jammed. Manually move the pump control valve lever back and forth to free a stuck valve.
Repair steps
Clear the Code
Attempt to delete the error code from the control unit dashboard to unlock the valves, as the system will often disable the circuit to protect the pump.
Unstick the Valve
If the valve is mechanically bound, attempt to manually actuate the spool to clear minor debris.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed an open or shorted circuit, repair the damaged section of the wiring harness or replace the faulty connector.
Replace Solenoid/Sensor
If the wiring is intact but the solenoid coil fails resistance testing (or the spool position sensor is faulty), replace the solenoid/sensor unit on the valve block.
Replace Valve Assembly
If the valve body is internally scored, leaking heavily, or permanently jammed, the entire External Hydraulic Valve 1 (spool valve) assembly must be replaced.
Recalibrate
After replacing electronic hydraulic components, use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the codes and recalibrate the valve limits if required by the specific model's service manual.
