0A.1X.1B

Massey Ferguson 0A.1X.1B – Mid Mount Valve Module / Dash / Main Tractor ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a malfunction in the first external hydraulic remote valve circuit, typically triggered by a connection problem on a hydraulic valve, an issue with the spool position sensor value, or no communication between the dash and the mid mount valve module.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 1 and the Mid Mount Valve Module for chafed wires, corrosion, or bent pins.

  2. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to monitor the live data for the Spool Position Sensor on Valve 1. Check if the voltage sweeps smoothly as the valve is commanded or if the value is stuck/out of range.

  3. Verify that the Dash is successfully communicating with the Mid Mount Valve Module. If multiple valve codes are present, the issue is likely the module's main harness or CAN bus connection rather than a single valve.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Clean and Reseat

Disconnect the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 1. Clean the contacts with electronic contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and firmly reseat the connector.

  3. Test Operation

Reconnect the battery, clear the DTCs using a diagnostic tool, and test the hydraulic remote. If the code does not return, it was a poor connection.

  4. Replace Sensor/Valve

If the code persists and the wiring tests good, the internal spool position sensor or the valve solenoid has failed. Replace the Spool Position Sensor (if serviceable separately) or the entire External Hydraulic Valve 1 slice.

  5. Recalibrate

After replacing hydraulic components, use the diagnostic tool to perform a hydraulic valve calibration procedure so the ECU can learn the new spool position sensor's neutral and end-of-stroke values.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Spool Position Sensor

Replaces a faulty position reader on the valve slice.

  • External Hydraulic Valve 1 Assembly

The complete valve slice replacement if the sensor is integrated or the spool is mechanically damaged.
