0A.20.11

Massey Ferguson 0A.20.11 – Mid Mount Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a malfunction within the second external hydraulic remote/spool valve circuit. This can be caused by a connection problem on the hydraulic valve, an issue with the spool position sensor value, or a communication failure between the dash and the valve module.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect Electrical Connections: Check the wiring harness and connectors at External Hydraulic Valve 2 for corrosion, backed-out pins, or physical damage.

  2. Test the Spool Position Sensor: Verify the sensor is reading correctly and sending the proper voltage/signal back to the control module.

  3. Check CAN Communication: Ensure there is proper communication between the Dash and the Valve Module.

  4. Mechanical Inspection: Check the valve body for debris or sticking spools that could prevent the valve from actuating properly.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system before beginning work.

  2. Disconnect Electronics

Unplug the electrical harness from the External Hydraulic Valve 2 solenoid and spool position sensor.

  3. Remove the Valve

Unscrew the retaining plugs/bolts. Carefully extract the valve body (spool slice), recovering any shims, springs, and O-rings.

  4. Inspect and Replace

If the valve is mechanically bound or the internal sensor has failed, replace the Electric Spool Slice.

  5. Reassembly

Fit the new valve body into the hydraulic block using new O-rings. Tighten the retaining plugs to the OEM specified torque (e.g., 50-60 Nm depending on the specific block).

  6. Refill and Test

Top up the transmission/hydraulic oil level.

  7. Programming

Crucial step — New electric spool slices must be programmed/calibrated to the tractor using a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool.

  8. Clear Codes

Clear the 0A.20.11 DTC and test the hydraulic circuit for proper operation and leaks.
