0A.20.1E

Massey Ferguson 0A.20.1E – Autotronic system: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction associated with the second external electrohydraulic spool valve (SCV 2). The underlying condition is typically an electrical connection problem, a spool position sensor value error, or a mechanical failure preventing the valve from operating or returning to its center position.

Check the cause

  1. Check Valve LED Indicators: Locate External Valve 2 on the rear spool block. Observe the LED on the electronic valve (solid red = receiving power, green = receiving input to move, flashing = internal fault).

  2. Inspect Linkage and Centering: Verify the position of the external linkage. Ensure that the valve is physically returning to the center position, as a sticking spool can trigger position sensor errors.

  3. Check Wiring and Connections: Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the hydraulic valve for any connection problems.

  4. Check Autotronic Sub-Codes: Access the Autotronic system via the dash to check for secondary DC or TC error codes.

Repair steps

  1. Clean and Reseat Connectors

Disconnect the electrical harness from External Hydraulic Valve 2. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and reseat the connection. Clear the code and test operation.

  2. Address Mechanical Sticking (Detents)

If the valve is mechanically sticking, the spool valve detents may be worn. On certain models (like the 7600 series), the detents can be modified or replaced separately to fix the issue without replacing the whole valve.

  3. Replace the Valve Assembly

If the wiring is intact, the LED is flashing an internal fault, and the valve is unresponsive, the electrohydraulic valve has failed internally. Remove the faulty valve from the rear hydraulic block and install a complete replacement unit.

  4. Clear Codes

Use a compatible diagnostic tool or the tractor's onboard interface to clear the DTCs and recalibrate the hydraulic system if required by the specific model's service manual.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Electrohydraulic Spool Valve / External Hydraulic Valve Assembly

Exact part number varies heavily based on tractor model, hydraulic pump capacity, and whether the system is open or closed-center.

  • Spool valve detent kit

For 7600 series tractors experiencing mechanical sticking.
