0A.20.21

Massey Ferguson 0A.20.21 – Mid Mount Valve Module or main hydraulic control ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a malfunction, communication failure, or sensor reading error associated with the second external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). Related sub-codes often point to issues with the spool position sensor value or a connection problem on the hydraulic valve.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connections leading to External Hydraulic Valve 2 for chafing, corrosion, or loose connector pins.

  2. Verify the spool position sensor value using a compatible diagnostic tool to check for faulty readings.

  3. Ensure proper CAN Bus communication between the Dash/Main ECU and the Valve Module.

  4. Check for mechanical blockages in the valve block preventing the spool from moving to its commanded position.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and relieve all hydraulic system pressure before servicing the valve block.

  2. Access the Valve Block

Locate the rear or mid-mount external hydraulic valve assembly (depending on whether Valve 2 is configured as a rear remote or a mid-mount loader valve).

  3. Inspect/Clean Connectors

Disconnect the electrical connector to the Danfoss/Bosch electro-hydraulic valve head for Valve 2. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and reconnect. Clear the code to see if it returns.

  4. Replace Valve Head/Sensor

If the wiring is intact but the spool position sensor is failing, the electro-hydraulic valve head (actuator) or the entire valve slice may need to be replaced.

  5. Reassembly and Calibration

Install the new valve component. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harnesses.

  6. Clear Codes

Use a Massey Ferguson compatible diagnostic interface to clear the 0A.20.21 code and recalibrate the hydraulic valves if required by the service manual.
