0A.20.24

Massey Ferguson 0A.20.24 – Hydraulic Control Module / Armrest Module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a malfunction, communication failure, or sensor value error related to the electrohydraulic spool valve (slice 2) that controls the external hydraulic remotes.

Check the cause

  1. Check Valve LEDs on the electronic valves at the rear of the tractor (a flashing LED on Valve 2 confirms a localized fault on that slice)

  2. Check spool position to ensure the external linkage and the valve itself are physically able to return to the center/neutral position

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector plugging into External Hydraulic Valve 2 for corrosion, moisture ingress, or broken wires

  4. Check for secondary codes (such as DC/TC error codes or spool position sensor value errors like M17, M18, M19) using the dash screen

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the hydraulic modules.

  2. Clean and Reseat Connectors

Disconnect the plug at External Hydraulic Valve 2. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and reseat the connection. Test the tractor to see if the code clears.

  3. Inspect Detents

If the valve is mechanically sticking and failing to return to neutral, the detents may be worn. On some models (like the 7600 series), detents can be modified or replaced individually without replacing the whole valve.

  4. Replace the Spool Slice

If the wiring is good and the valve has failed internally (or the internal spool position sensor has failed), the entire electric spool slice must be replaced.

  5. Programming

Install the new electric spool slice. Note: Replacement electric spool slices must be programmed/calibrated to the tractor's ECU using a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool before they will function.

  6. Clear Codes

Use the diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.20.24 code and test the hydraulic remotes for proper operation.
