0A.20.2A

Massey Ferguson 0A.20.2A – Mid Mount Valve Module or Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction in the second external remote hydraulic valve (spool valve) circuit. The underlying condition is typically related to a spool position sensor value error, a failure of the valve to reach its commanded position, or an electrical connection problem at the valve itself.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors at External Hydraulic Valve 2 for corrosion or connection problems. Use a diagnostic tool to read the live 'Spool Position Sensor Value' to see if the sensor is registering movement.

  2. Check the hydraulic/transmission oil for contamination and ensure the hydraulic filters are not blocked, as dirty oil can cause the spool valves to stick.

  3. Perform a spool leakage check by positioning the control handle in 'Neutral', connecting a hydraulic hand pump to the control valve port, and pressurizing the port to 2500 psi. If the port cannot hold pressure, oil is leaking around the spool.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Ensure the tractor is off, implements are lowered, and all hydraulic system pressure is relieved. Position the control handles in 'Neutral'.

  2. Disconnect

Disconnect the electrical harness from the External Hydraulic Valve 2 position sensor and solenoids. Disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the valve block.

  3. Remove & Inspect

Unbolt and remove the auxiliary control valve assembly. Disassemble, clean, and inspect the valve to ensure no foreign contamination is causing the spool to stick.

  4. Re-test

Reassemble the cleaned valve and repeat the 2500 psi leakage check. If no pressure can be obtained, the internal bore is damaged and the valve must be replaced.

  5. Replace

Install the new spool valve assembly and reconnect all hydraulic and electrical lines.

  6. Calibrate

Once an electronic spool valve is replaced with a new one, you must use a compatible diagnostic tool (such as Jaltest AGV or the OEM dealer tool) to assign the new valve its position and calibrate it to the tractor's system. Clear the 0A.20.2A DTC.
