Massey Ferguson 0A.21.24 – Dash and the Mid Mount Valve Module / Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue
Issue description
Indicates a malfunction, connection problem, or spool position sensor error associated with the second remote hydraulic spool valve, resulting in the remote hydraulics becoming slow, weak, or completely dead.

Check the cause
Check Fluid and Filters: Inspect the hydraulic fluid level and condition. Dirty oil or a blocked hydraulic/transmission filter can restrict flow and cause valve faults.
Inspect Electrical Connections: Check the wiring harness and connectors going to External Hydraulic Valve 2.
Check for Leaks and Physical Damage: Inspect the valve block for visible fluid leaks, which reduce system pressure. Check the hydraulic couplers for damage or blockages.
Test Spool Position Sensor: Use a compatible diagnostic tool to monitor the sensor output for Valve 2 while commanding the valve.
Check for Sticking/Jamming: Debris or internal wear can cause the valve spool to stick, making the controls unresponsive.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Lower all implements to the ground, turn off the tractor, and cycle the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure.
Access the Valve Block
Locate the external hydraulic valve stack (usually at the rear of the tractor or mid-mount depending on the loader configuration).
Disconnect Electrical and Hydraulic Lines
Carefully unplug the electrical connector (spool position sensor/solenoid) for Valve 2. Disconnect and cap the hydraulic hoses to prevent contamination and fluid loss.
Remove the Spool Valve
Unbolt the specific spool slice (Valve 2) from the hydraulic valve stack.
Inspect and Clean
If the valve was sticking, inspect the spool and bore for scoring or debris. Replace the O-rings and seals if rebuilding.
Replace the Valve/Sensor
If the electric spool slice or its internal position sensor has failed, install the replacement unit.
Reassembly
Bolt the valve back into the stack, torque to OEM specifications, and reconnect all hydraulic lines and electrical harnesses.
Fluid and Filter
Replace the hydraulic/transmission filter and top off the hydraulic fluid.
Programming and Clearing Codes
If replacing an electric spool slice (e.g., part 3797234M6), the new module must be programmed to the tractor's ECU. Finally, use a diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.21.24 code.
