Massey Ferguson 0A.21.27 – Dash/Instrument Cluster and Hydraulic Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue
Issue description
Malfunction in the second external hydraulic remote valve circuit. The underlying condition is typically electrical, often triggered by a connection problem on the hydraulic valve, an out-of-range spool position sensor value, or a loss of communication.

Check the cause
Retrieve and verify codes using a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to confirm if 0A.21.27 is active or stored, and check for related spool position sensor codes.
Inspect the electrical harness and connectors connecting to External Hydraulic Valve 2 for corrosion, backed-out pins, or damaged wires.
Check the Valve 2 spool position sensor value by monitoring live data via the diagnostic interface to see if it is reading out of range or stuck.
Perform a module communication test to verify that the Dash is successfully communicating with the Mid Mount/Hydraulic Valve Module.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Turn off the tractor and actuate the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the system before servicing the valve block.
Clean and Re-seat Connectors
Disconnect the electrical plug at External Hydraulic Valve 2. Clean the contacts with electronic cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and securely re-seat the connector.
Test Operation
Turn the tractor on and test the hydraulic remote. If the code clears, it was a connection issue.
Valve/Sensor Replacement
If the spool position sensor is internally shorted or the valve actuator has failed, the spool valve assembly (or the specific electronic actuator head, depending on the exact valve iteration) must be removed. Unbolt the valve section from the hydraulic stack.
Install New Parts
Install the replacement spool valve or repair kit, ensuring all O-rings are lubricated and seated correctly. Torque the stack bolts to OEM specifications.
Clear DTCs
Connect the diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.21.27 fault code from the system memory.
Calibrate and Test
Run a hydraulic calibration procedure (if required by the specific ECU) and test the remote under load to ensure proper operation.
