Massey Ferguson 0A.21.28 – Hydraulic Control Module or the main Tractor Control Unit (TCU/ECU): External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction or communication failure within the circuit of the second external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve).

Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connectors leading to External Hydraulic Valve 2 for physical damage, corrosion, or loose pins
Check the spool position sensor on Valve 2 for proper values, as sensor failures are a common cause
Use a compatible diagnostic tool to retrieve the code, check for secondary codes (like connection or voltage drops), and monitor the live data of the spool position sensor

Power Down
Turn off the tractor and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the rear remotes before servicing.
Locate the Valve
Identify External Hydraulic Valve 2 on the rear hydraulic block.
Address Wiring/Connections
Disconnect the electrical connector to the valve's solenoid and spool position sensor. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. If the wiring harness is frayed or damaged, repair or replace the affected section.
Test/Replace Sensor
If the wiring is intact but the code persists, the spool position sensor or the valve solenoid is likely faulty. Replace the sensor if it is available as a separate component.
Replace Valve Assembly
If the sensor is integrated or the valve itself has failed internally, remove the mounting bolts, disconnect the hydraulic lines, and replace the entire External Hydraulic Valve 2 assembly.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the diagnostic tool, clear the 0A.21.28 fault code, and cycle the hydraulic remote to ensure the issue is resolved.
