Massey Ferguson 0A.22.13 – Dash / Main Tractor Control Module and Mid Mount Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue
Issue description
Malfunction within the second external hydraulic remote valve circuit. Related sub-system errors often point to an "Issue With Spool Position Sensor Value" or a "Connection problem on a hydraulic valve."

Check the cause
Retrieve codes using a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to confirm 0A.22.13 and check for secondary codes (like M16 or M17) that indicate specific sensor or CAN-bus communication drops.
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to External Hydraulic Valve 2 (at the rear remote stack or mid-mount block) for corrosion, moisture, or physical damage.
Test the spool position sensor value. If the sensor is reporting out of range, the valve slice may be mechanically binding or the sensor itself has failed.
Check hydraulic pressure to ensure there are no external leaks or pilot pressure control issues preventing the valve from actuating.
Repair steps
Preparation
Safely park the tractor, lower all implements, relieve hydraulic system pressure, and disconnect the battery.
Access the Valve Block
Locate the external hydraulic valve stack (rear remotes or mid-mount valve module).
Electrical Testing
Disconnect the electrical connector to Valve 2. Clean the contacts and test for proper voltage and ground from the harness.
Component Replacement
If the electrical circuit is intact but the valve fails to operate or report the correct position, the electric spool slice (or its pilot pressure control) is faulty. Remove the mounting bolts and carefully extract the faulty valve slice from the stack.
Installation
Install the replacement electric spool slice (or rebuild the existing one using an OEM repair kit). Ensure all O-rings and seals are properly seated.
Reassembly
Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness. Reconnect the battery.
Programming
New electric spool slices must be programmed/calibrated to the tractor's control module using a dealer diagnostic tool before they will function correctly.
Testing
Clear the DTCs and test the hydraulic remote for proper operation.
