0A.22.2A

Massey Ferguson 0A.22.2A – Hydraulic control module (Dash and Mid Mount Valve Module): External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

This code indicates a malfunction in the second external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). The underlying condition is typically an electrical connection problem on the hydraulic valve or an issue with the spool position sensor value.

Check the cause

  1. Retrieve and Verify Codes: Use a compatible diagnostic tool or interface device to confirm code 0A.22.2A. Look for accompanying codes related to the spool position sensor (e.g., M17, M20, M21) or communication errors (e.g., M16).

  2. Inspect Wiring and Connections: Physically inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 2 for corrosion, backed-out pins, or wire chafing.

  3. Check Sensor Values: Monitor the spool position sensor value via the diagnostic tool to see if the sensor is reading out of range or erratically.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and relieve all hydraulic system pressure before servicing the valve block.

  2. Locate the Valve

Identify External Hydraulic Valve 2 (Spool Valve 2) on the rear remote valve stack or the mid-mount valve module.

  3. Clean and Reconnect

Disconnect the electrical connector to the valve's solenoid/position sensor. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and securely reconnect it.

  4. Test Operation

Clear the DTCs using the diagnostic tool and test the hydraulic remote.

  5. Replace Components

If the code returns and the wiring harness tests good for continuity and voltage, the fault lies within the valve's electronic slice or spool position sensor. Remove the retaining bolts for Valve 2, carefully extract the valve slice from the hydraulic block, and install the replacement unit.

  6. Recalibrate

Use the diagnostic interface to calibrate the new spool valve position sensor so the ECU recognizes its neutral and maximum travel limits.
