0A.23.1B

Massey Ferguson 0A.23.1B – Main Dash display / Vehicle Control Unit and Mid Mount Valve Module / rear remote valve control module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a fault within the second external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve) circuit. Typically caused by connection problems on the hydraulic valve, a loss of communication with the valve module, or an out-of-range value from the spool position sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Retrieve and verify the active DTCs using a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool or interface device.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connections leading to External Hydraulic Valve 2 for connection problems.

  3. Check for communication faults between the Dash and the Valve Module.

  4. Test the Spool Position Sensor to determine if it is returning a valid value to the control module.

Repair steps

  1. Safely park the tractor, lower all hydraulic implements to the ground, and relieve system hydraulic pressure before servicing.

Ensure the system is depressurized before beginning work.

  2. Locate External Hydraulic Valve 2.

This will be either in the rear remote stack or the mid-mount valve block, depending on tractor configuration.

  3. Disconnect the electrical harness from the valve's solenoid and position sensor and clean the contacts.

This resolves any potential connection problems.

  4. Test or replace the Spool Position Sensor.

Perform this if the wiring is intact and the code persists, as sensor value failures are a documented cause of valve module errors.

  5. Replace the electronic spool valve control switch or the valve body itself.

Perform this if the sensor is functioning properly, indicating the issue lies in the switch or valve body.

  6. Reconnect all components, clear the DTCs using the diagnostic tool, and cycle the hydraulic remote.

Ensure the fault does not return after cycling the remote.
